Gem Trees

This ancient art form uses twisted wire to construct trees in miniature so that small gemstones can be displayed.
The trees can be free standing or attached to base rocks.  The trees can be made to closely mimic nature – a bit like the art of Bonsai – or they can be highly stylised.  Either way, this is a fun activity that gives confidence in handling wire and the tools used to shape it.

Several of our junior members have enjoyed making gemtrees out of recycled copper wire and tumble polished gemstones.
