Faceting

Faceting is the process of taking a stone (usually a crystal) and cutting and polishing it into shapes that are covered in small flat faces (facets).

The Club has faceting machines and all the equipment needed to cut and polish the stones.  This is one of the skills that takes a bit of brain power as well as patience to master.  We have several books of patterns that are a good source of inspiration.

It is really satisfying to be able to cut and polish a crystal into a gemstone of great beauty that can be set into your own designer piece of jewellery
